The Street 500 is now in Harley Davidson of Manila showrooms, albeit on a limited run. Coming from the monumental Dark Custom™ motorcycle series started by the Street 750, the Street™ 500 is leaner yet still keeping that legendary HD growl, it’s the realistic approach to motorcycling in the urban jungle, while giving room for future customisations and enhancement.
The street 500 is a water cooled V-twin as opposed to the air cooled 88 and 103s, which is a welcome add-on appropriate for the stop and go traffic. This, coupled with the narrow and lean chassis assures more mobility for the rider. Other cues derived from its bigger brothers are the low seat height, softer suspension and wider handlebar sweeper for managing quick turns.
Being a Dark Custom motorcycle, it expresses the brand’s rogue roots while acknowledging the past with modern elucidation. Dark does not mean Black,, Dark means blank. It is begging to be personalised. Starting with a café style windscreen, black front fork gaiters, all black exhaust system and an aggressive slash on the tail section.
